University Arms

As a pub, The University Arms is a relative newcomer to the Real Ale circuit in Sheffield, having only been converted from a private members club in early 2007. The pub has been a big hit with staff, students, Sheffield folk and visitors alike, with the pub's popularity proved in October 2008 when it was voted 'Pub of the Month' by CAMRA.

The pub offers a minimum of five cask beers on at any one time, which are mostly sourced from local breweries, with at least two of the beers coming from Thornbridge Brewery, who also provide the house beer, Wild Swan. We also serve a selection of hearty lunchtime and evening meals in the comfort of the bar area with a delicious new menu being launched for January 2010.

The pub has a very comfortable bar area, with stained glass features giving it a very traditional feel. There is a light and airy conservatory which leads out to a wonderful beer garden – a hidden oasis surrounded by trees and complete with BBQ for sunny days.

Our programme of events includes our regular weekly quiz, held every Thursday, and our beer festival, held in November, along with tutored beer, wine and malt whiskey tastings. We also offer regular evenings of live jazz, blues and folk music and informal talks about the lighter side of the city of Sheffield and its history.

We have three function rooms available, which can accommodate up to 80 people and can be used during the day for conference or meeting requirements and in the evening for more social occasions.

To find out more about any of the above or simply to sample the delights of one of Sheffield's premier hostelries, why not pay a visit to "The Arms". We are located on Brook Hill, just a two minute walk from the University tram stop and are open from noon Monday till Saturday.
