University House
Brief Description
University House is located opposite Firth Court on Western Bank and next to the Octagon Centre. Centrally located close to the city centre and conveniently close to major transport links, the venue has a range of rooms of varying sizes which can be used alone or in conjunction, depending on your requirements.
Perfect for
Weddings, conferences, exhibitions and celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and receptions. Our venues within University House are also great for bar events with a band or disco.
Facilities
The Common Room
The Common Room Restaurant is located on the 5th floor of University House. It has an adjoining bar area and two other linked rooms. The room has a neutral décor with wooden floors lending a warm ambience and is perfect for dinners, weddings and other important celebrations. The Common Room can formally seat up to 140 people or alternatively can cater for up to 250 people in a more informal setting.
Fulwood and Abbeydale Rooms
These rooms are located side by side and adjoin The Common Room Restaurant. Each of these rooms can seat up to 70 people and have large floor to ceiling windows with an impressive view of the city and outlying countryside. Indeed many of our guests take pleasure in trying to pick out some of Sheffield's most striking landmarks. These rooms are ideal for informal receptions, small dinners and lunches.
The International Food Court
This large room acts as a blank canvas for you to be creative in the décor and theme of your event. Floor to ceiling windows stretch the length of the room making it light and airy with lots of potential for you to personalise the way you wish. The room has a large capacity and can accommodate up to 200 people for a sit down meal, but is also perfect for exhibitions and receptions. A temporary bar can be arranged making it ideal for dances and ceilidh's.
There is also the option of using City View Café as an overspill area for casual seating if required. With beautiful views of Sheffield's landscape, City View offers a perfect lounge setting for those preferring a quieter area away from the main event.
Please note, there is ongoing construction work which affects availability of The International Food Court. Work is due to finish August 2010.
